Monks and Muslims: Finding Faith in Algeria
(IN PRODUCTION)
Anisa and her production team went to France in May to commence
documentary filming for “Monks and Muslims: Finding Faith in Algeria.” We
interviewed monks and other clergy, spoke with members of five of the
families of the fallen monks of Tibhirine, recorded glorious footage of the
Alpine village where Frère Paul grew up, and captured the excess of activity
at Sacre Coeur cathedral in Paris, where Frère Christian determined he
wanted to serve a simpler community. We also videotaped a "Ribat-es-Salaam"
or "Bonds of Peace" meeting at Aigubelle where Muslims and Christians
conversed and cried together. |

Nightline Up Close: Jack Shaheen
ABC NEWS
Some may see Jack Shaheen as a "Don Quixote." Trying to change the image of Arabs and Muslims in the American media may be as reasonable as fighting windmills. But Dr. Shaheen has written three books on the subject and is considered an authority on Hollywood stereotyping. His latest book, REEL BAD ARABS: HOW HOLLYWOOD VILLIFIES A PEOPLE, was published before September 11, 2001. In REEL BAD ARABS Shaheen reviews nearly 1,000 films and rates them on how they portray Arabs and Muslims. The book may be ordered at www.interlinkbooks.com. Learn More |
